Privacy Policy for PDFPouch
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for the processing of data within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and international privacy laws is:
AppsMakerDeluxe
Developer Support: appsmakerdeluxe@gmail.com
2. Core Principles & Local Processing
The application PDFPouch (package name: com.appsmakerdeluxe.pdfpouch) is architected around the principles of Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default:
- No Internet Permission: The app's manifest deliberately omits the
android.permission.INTERNETpermission. The app is technically incapable of sending data across cellular networks or Wi-Fi. - No Third-Party Tracking SDKs: No analytics libraries (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel) and no ad networks (such as Google AdMob) are bundled into the codebase.
- No Accounts or Logins: All features are accessible immediately without registration, usernames, or passwords.
3. Device Permissions & File Access
PDFPouch only requests the absolute minimum permissions necessary for its user-directed operations:
- Camera (
android.permission.CAMERA): Used exclusively when you intentionally launch the scanning feature (Document scan) to take pictures of paper documents. Captured image data resides only in volatile memory or temporary cache, and is discarded once the PDF is assembled or canceled. - File Access via Storage Access Framework (SAF): PDFPouch does not ask for broad storage access (no
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGEor legacy storage permissions). Opening and saving files uses Android's modern Storage Access Framework, giving the app access only to the explicit files you select. - Safe File Operations: All write operations (merge, reorder, sign, compress) first write to a private temporary cache file and validate the output. Your original PDF files are never modified or overwritten silently. The new PDF is written to your chosen location only when you confirm in the system save dialog.
4. Data Flow Map
The following table outlines what data is handled by the application, where it is stored, and whether it is shared:
| Data Category | Purpose | Storage Location | Transmission / Third Parties |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selected PDF URIs & File Names | Recent documents history for fast reopening | Local Android DataStore (private internal storage) | None; can be cleared individually or completely anytime |
| PDF Document Content | Viewing, text search, page management, merge, compression | Local app cache and user-selected storage path | None; never transmitted to developers or external servers |
| Camera Photos | User-initiated document scanning | Volatile RAM / temporary cache | None; purged after target PDF generation |
| Hand-drawn Signatures | Visual stamping onto target document page | Volatile memory during placement | None; stamped directly into the resulting PDF copy |
| Theme Settings | System / Light / Dark theme selection | Local DataStore | None |
5. External Actions (Share & Print)
When you use the Share or Print actions in the viewer, PDFPouch delegates to Android system dialogs:
- Sharing: The PDF copy is handed off to the destination app chosen by you (e.g. email client, messaging app). The privacy policy of that selected third-party app then applies.
- Printing: The document is handed to your device's installed print service via the Android Print Framework.
- Web Links in Documents: If a document contains a hyperlink, PDFPouch validates the URL scheme (allowing only safe
http://andhttps://protocols) and requests your confirmation before opening it in your default browser.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR and Global Regulations
Because PDFPouch does not transmit your personal data to remote servers, all your data remains under your direct, physical control on your device. Under Chapter III of the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right to Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You can clear your recent document history at any time with a single tap in the app. Uninstalling the app removes all cached files and preferences stored in the app's internal sandbox.
- Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR) & Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): If you contact us via email, you have the right to request information regarding any personal data communicated in that correspondence.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority if you believe your privacy rights have been infringed.
